Restoring the Palmer Memorial

Reverend James Nelson Palmer (1832 - 1908) was Curate and later Rector of Yaverland. He was a greatly respected local resident having been a founding member of the IOW Corinthian Sailing Club and Bembridge Football Club. In 1910 Lord Alverstone unveiled a Memorial Fountain in his honour. Fast forward 100+ years and a community effort involving Bembridge Parish Council, Bembridge Primary School and Bembridge Heritage has enabled the restoration of this important piece of local heritage.
